Girotondo Italian Academy: Family-School Partnership
We believe that children benefit most when their parents and their teachers
collaborate in a true partnership, sharing observations about the child's
learning style, temperament, coping mechanisms, strategies, strengths and
challenges, and when teachers succeed in communicating the children's daily
experiences at school with parents and family members who are not present
with us on a daily basis.
The educators at Girotondo Italian Academy strive to create ways for families
to share their children's experience at school. We encourage a culture of
reciprocity. Parents and family members are welcome in the classrooms at
Girotondo Italian Academy.
Further, we believe that partnership is strengthened when parents and family
members participate in school activities. To this end, we formed a Parent
Teacher Association (PTA).
The PTA's overall goals are to build a sense of community and to establish
a strong social bond between the families and children, by utilizing the
special talents and hobbies of parents for the various needs and ongoing
and potential projects of the school. Studies of parent involvement overwhelmingly
confirm that it has a positive effect on children's well-being and academic
achievement. Parent involvement and commitment also benefit educators, the
school, community, and the parents themselves.
As a member of our school community, we ask for your active participation
in any of the PTA committees and/or volunteering.
The 2009 fundraising efforts focused on "Sotto Le Stelle" our
Biennial Gala Dinner & Auction. This academic year our fundraising efforts
will be a "Capital Campaign Drive". In this regard, all our families
are expected to make or obtain a tax deductible donation of a minimum $1000
by October 31,
2010.
Girotondo Italian Academy families enroll in eScrip. This is an opportunity
to contribute to the school in an effortless way. The application and instructions
for enrollment can be obtained at school or via email.
